Summary of Alumni Activities Discussed on Alumni meet 19-Jun-2021 (07:30pm to 09:00PM)
Team CONCORDE – Members Present -Tom, Vignesh, Venkatesh, Muthu, Gupta, Arul, Sivadinesh, LP Jayachandran, Kannan, Fr. Anson.
Covid pandemic is at its 2nd wave peak in Erode and many lives are lost. Lockdown is being extended and situation is far from becoming normal again.
- Members expressed their willingness to contribute to any Covid related help/ contribution that the community may need in and around Carmel School.
- There is a need to have a common accessible repository of all batchmates contact numbers, email ids, current residing address and their details about their professions. This would be helpful for individuals to reach-out to relevant people for any career counselling/ consulting in respective professional streams.
- Proposal is to meet every month once virtual sessions where alumni members can provide a general talk/ presentation ( voluntary topics) to students batch. This would serves as a knowledgebase for their career guidance after the school.
- Father Anson, Principal of Carmel (Current) was invited to the discussion and he shared the following immediate needs for Covid related impact.
- To deliver Grocery kit worth 1000-2000 for 100 needy families. He had come across a group of 50 families residing in shackles, who are jobless and needs assistance in this difficult times. This shall be done within a week ( 28-June-2021). School is willing to contribute 100 bedsheets from the families in addition to the grocery kit.
- To sponsor some medical equipments through Medical superintendent for Government hospitals (like oxygen concentrators etc. ) to prepare for the 3rd wave of Covid.
- School is creating a Scholarship for students who have lost their parents to Covid, to continue studies until XII. Alumni can consider helping them post schooling.
